Parents' Advisory Committees

SHS encourages parental involvement in education. The SHS Parent Council’s role is advisory only. The council’s operation and composition is governed democratically and executive officers are elected annually in the fall. Meetings are held monthly.

The council is a volunteer organization dedicated to:

1. Increasing the educational opportunities for our students
2. Improving the relationship and communications between parents and school personnel

French Immersion Parents’ Committee

A French Immersion Parents’ Committee was established at SHS in the fall of 2000. The committee assists staff in the organization of special events such as concerts, field trips, Festival du Voyageur activities, open houses, and assemblies. The committee strives to improve the relationship and communication between parents and school personnel. Parents are invited to attend the regular monthly meetings.

English-Ukranian Bilingual Parents’ Committee

The English-Ukrainian Bilingual Parents’ Committee is a branch of the Manitoba Parents for Ukrainian Education (MPUE). The committee assists teachers in the organization of special events for students, including concerts, field trips, and special assemblies. As well, the committee conducts an active recruitment campaign for enrolment of students into the program. Parents are invited to attend regular monthly meetings.
